What Summit needs from you

For every charge on your company card, Summit needs two things from you: the receipt, and a short memo saying what the purchase was for. Most charges take about a minute. Here's how.

Sign in and find your charges

Go to app.summitspend.com, enter the email your invite was sent to, and choose Email me a sign-in link. Open the link from the newest email. You'll land on your home page. Open Transactions. An amber icon in the Receipt column means a charge is still missing its receipt, and the Status column lists anything else to finish, like No GL or Approval.

Attach the receipt

On the web, click the charge and drop a photo or PDF of the receipt into the Receipt section. Or click browse to pick the file. You can also email it. Send or forward the receipt to receipts@summitspend.com. One rule matters here: send it from the same email address you sign in with. Receipts from any other address are dropped, and nothing tells you so. And forward each one by hand; an automatic forwarding rule won't work. On your phone, open the Summit Spend app, go to the Receipts tab and tap Take Photo. Summit reads the receipt and suggests the charge it belongs to. If a receipt you emailed or uploaded doesn't attach on its own, it waits in Receipts for you to confirm the match.

Write a memo

Next, the memo. On the web, open the charge, then open its full view with the arrow icon at the top right, and type in the Memo field. A good memo says what you bought, who it was for, and the job or project. For example: "Fittings for the Lot 12 rough-in." In the full view it saves on its own. The mobile app shows memos but can't edit them yet, so add memos on the web.

Coding fields and lost receipts

Your admin may also ask you to fill in coding fields, like a GL account or a project. Summit usually suggests one at the top of the list. If you're not sure, leave it and your admin will fix it. Lost a receipt? If your company allows it, open the charge in the mobile app and tap I don't have a receipt. On Android it's Request receipt waiver. Say why, and an approver will review it. That's it. Receipt, memo, done.
